Summary
Severus Snape gazed at the orange and yellow hues of the crackling fire in front of him, eyes unfocused and distant. Lucius sat beside him on the couch, an arm around the man he considered to be family. Both had tired faces, with red-rimmed eyes from tears. In a chair across the room, Narcissa cried too, holding tightly to her own son, young Draco, who was upset at his mother’s tears, trying to comfort her with a small hand on her cheek and head tucked tightly at her shoulder. The day had been a terrible one, the destruction of everything he loved. His son, Alexei, had been taken from him, stolen from his bed, only weeks before he was due to begin Hogwarts. The only remainder of his darling Katarina, his wife and mate, who had been murdered many years before, when Alexei was only an infant, gone. His only consolation was that he himself remained alive, as his mate was dead, he only lived for his child, so if Alexei died, so too would Severus.

"Casting several layers of heavy spells over the tiny child, Dumbledore made sure the baby would seem human instead of the half serpent form he had been born into. Choosing a random generic name for the boy in the form of Harry, he took the child to James and Lily Potter who had recently discovered that they were unable to have children. James and Lily had adopted Harry as their son, having been told that he had lost his parents in a death eater raid. Then he spent some time writing a dramatic sounding prophecy and compelled Sybil Trelawney to perform it in a public space so it would be overheard by the right person. It worked perfectly and Voldemort became obsessed with his ‘prophesied’ defeat, going after the boy and killing his parents."

Summary

Drawn to the powerful charisma of his new Lord, Severus accepts and joins his friend Lucius among the ranks of the fealty sworn wixen to the Knights’ cause. Lord Slytherin is equally as fascinated with Snape as the younger is with him, but will the two be able to move past their own denial and forge a relationship?
