Summary
When a girl from the modern world gets thrown in Middle Earth, she's being chased by a pack of orcs on the backs of wargs. She happens to be running through the very forest of Mirkwood, in the realm of the Great Elvenking, Thranduil. Things are not as they seem, however. The girl is half-elven, part human, and... part faerie? She can recall nothing other than running when she is thrown at the feet of the king himself, relying on his mercy, but... the king is a suspicious sort, and offers her a deal- to serve him by any means necessary, and she keeps her life. This story is totally non-canon and will have a lot of non-canon elements, forewarning!

(This was a reader fic, but I've changed it to have an original character.)
Imogen Goodchild, cousin to Samwise, grew up alongside Pippin Took, often waiting to see Gandalf appear, waiting for hints of adventure. As they become of age, whispers throughout Hobbiton allude to the pair of them being matched together, yet they silently ignore them. A quest finally sets upon them, along with their kin Sam and Merry, the Conspirators who insisted Frodo not bear his burden alone. Danger and peril lies ahead for the Fellowship and Imogen and Pippin, where a burgeoning love once sat aside begins to bloom. As the Fellowship begins to fall asunder, the evils of Sauron brewing, will their fates tear them apart?

Summary
A year and a half ago, Faramir was killed in battle, and the war raged on. Boromir continued to lead his soldiers, even as his father slipped deeper into despair. He learned to shoulder Denethor's grief alongside his own, but as the days wore on, grief seemed to turn to delusion as the Steward of Gondor insisted without evidence that his second son still lived.
Now, as the war with Mordor draws towards its end and the forces of the West rally to Minas Tirith, Boromir must face the horrifying truth. He once swore that he would do anything for the sake of Gondor, and Sauron intends to call his bluff.

Legolas, prince of Mirkwood, is forever tainted by the harm done by his older brother. Legolas knows the creature that committed such atrocities wasn't the big brother who helped raised him, but a monster created from shadow, magic, and Sauron's doing. However, the inability of the rest of his kingdom to see him as anything more than a victim who should have died had led to rumors that he is sick and twisted too, that he found pleasure in his infliction. The only place he feels safe and at peace is in Imladris where Lord Elrond is always quick to assure him that he is a miracle. Elrond who is always helping him to heal, even if it's giving voice to the terrors that still plague him. Lord Elrond is the one who saved him from the monster that took his brother after all.
Too late, Legolas realizes he doesn't have to prove himself to Mirkwood, he already has a home with Elrond, but the patient Lord has been waiting for him to realize it on his own. Now he is committed to helping Frodo save their world, and hopefully redeeming himself to be good enough to stand next to the Lord he has come to love as his own.
