Namjoon is always so well spoken, his arguments always so articulated and deeply thought through that sometimes Jeongguk feels inadequate when he listens to him talk. He never does it on purpose, of course, and he’s more than happy to explain things to him whenever Jeongguk timidly asks, but he can’t help but feel that way. Feel like Namjoon deserves to be with someone just as smart as he is, someone that can challenge him and enrich him the way he does to others.
And that’s just one of the countless reasons Jeongguk is so hesitant to confess the depth of his feelings, to admit them even to himself, because he knows that if he were to do that, everything was just going to hurt more.

Namjoon yawns scratching his stomach as he walks out of the studio for the first time in ten hours. He’s beyond tired and just wants hot food and a warm yet cozy bed. What he doesn’t expect is a stare down in the middle of the kitchen. His toddler with his hands on his hips as he looks up with pursed lips in disgust. “No!” Jungkook hollers attempting to snatch away his toy from the pair of hands holding it. “You have to eat first.”
“No, no, no!” Jungkook stomps in a circle in mid tantrum. Namjoon looks at the scene in disbelief. This isn’t the Jungkook he remembers. Jungkook would never snatch anything, he wouldn’t stomp, throw tantrums, nor yell. He's always a good boy for Namjoon at least.
“Kim Jungkook.” Namjoon calls out to Jungkook whose eyes are already brimming with tears as he runs to Namjoon. Namjoon bends down unconsciously wrapping the toddler in his arms as he cries. He hears the retracting footsteps knowing he's messed up. Namjoon has a routine and it’s becoming a bad habit. The moment he sees Jungkook’s doe eyes he wavers; forgetting it was no longer just them two.
